The Short Answer

When a COS analysis produces copy that misses the mark, you have three options: (1) rerun the analysis with an adjusted audience profile, (2) use the dimensional scores to identify which specific traits are underserved and apply the rewrite suggestions directly, or (3) contact support and we will work through it with you. The 7-day free trial exists so you can evaluate this before any charge. The 30-day money-back guarantee exists so you are not stuck if the tool is not the right fit after you have started.

This page answers the specific questions buyers have before they commit to a tool that uses psychology to score copy. They are reasonable questions.

When the Output Misses

What if the generated copy sounds wrong for my audience?

Run the analysis again with a more specific audience profile. "B2B marketers" is a valid profile. "VP of Marketing at a mid-market SaaS company, high Conscientiousness, results-focused" produces better-calibrated output. The more specific the audience description, the more accurately COS weights the five OCEAN dimensions in generation and scoring.

If the output still misses, the dimensional scores tell you exactly where. A low Conscientiousness score on copy for a risk-averse procurement audience is a concrete gap, not a guess. COS shows which dimensions need work and provides rewrite suggestions specific to each gap. Apply those suggestions or use them as a brief for your own revision.

What if the OCEAN scores look right but the copy still feels off?

OCEAN scores measure psychological coverage, not subjective quality. High scores across the right dimensions mean the copy activates the traits your audience responds to. Whether the phrasing matches your brand voice or your personal judgment of "good copy" is a separate question that the score is not designed to answer.

In practice: if the scores are right and the copy feels wrong, the issue is usually brand voice calibration, not psychological fit. Use the high-scoring analysis as a structural guide and rewrite the language to match your voice. The scores tell you what to cover. How you cover it is up to you.

What if I disagree with the audience profile COS generated?

Edit it. The audience profile is a working hypothesis, not a fixed output. If your experience tells you your buyers score lower on Openness than the default profile assumes, adjust the profile and rerun. COS refines its output based on the profile you define, not the other way around.

Most users refine their profiles 2 to 3 times over the first few weeks as they see which profile settings correlate with better results in the real world. That calibration process is normal and expected.

Contact Support

What does support actually look like?

Email support, response within 24 hours on business days. For questions about how to set up an audience profile, read a specific score, or interpret a rewrite suggestion, we walk through it with you. We do not route you to a knowledge base and call it support.

If you are on the Team plan and running into something that affects your whole team's workflow, surface it directly. Priority support for Team and Enterprise accounts.

Is there onboarding help?

Yes. The getting-started guide at /getting-started/ covers the full workflow from first login to first scored analysis, including how to define your audience profile and what the scores mean. Most users run their first analysis within 10 minutes of signup.

If you want a walkthrough of COS against your specific use case, contact us. We do not charge for that.

Before You Commit

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The Solo plan ($24.50/month) and Team plan ($99.50/month) both start with a 7-day free trial. No credit card required. Cancel any time during the trial and you will not be charged.

You can also use the free ad copy analyzer and the free email subject analyzer without any account, up to 3 analyses per day each. Those tools give you a sense of the scoring interface before you start a trial.

What is the refund policy?

If you start a paid plan and are not satisfied within 30 days, email us for a full refund. No questions asked. The 7-day trial means you can evaluate the tool before the first charge. The 30-day guarantee means you are not locked in if your first month of real use does not deliver.

What does one analysis count as?

One analysis is one content submission. A piece of copy, a cold email, an ad, a landing page section: any text you submit for scoring counts as one analysis. The Solo plan includes 50 per month. The Team plan is unlimited.

How COS Scores Work

What are the five OCEAN dimensions?

Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism. These five dimensions are the Big Five personality model, one of the most replicated frameworks in behavioral science. COS draws on 860+ peer-reviewed papers to map how each dimension shapes how people process information, what they find credible, and what persuasion style moves them to act.

What does a 0 to 100 score mean?

The score measures how well your copy activates a given OCEAN dimension for your defined audience. 100 means the copy strongly covers that dimension. 0 means the copy does not address it at all. The target is not 100 across every dimension. The target is strong coverage on the dimensions your specific audience scores high on.

Example: copy targeting a high-Conscientiousness audience (senior procurement buyers, CFOs, risk officers) should score 70 or above on Conscientiousness. If it scores 22, the copy is almost certainly leading with benefit language and vision instead of specifics, process, and evidence. That is the gap COS surfaces.

How long does scoring take?

Under 30 seconds for standard copy. Up to 60 seconds for longer content like full landing pages or multi-section emails. The score comes back with a dimension-by-dimension breakdown and specific rewrite suggestions for any gap below the audience threshold.

Who COS Is and Is Not For

COS is built for B2B marketing and sales teams that write copy to specific buyer types: cold emails to VP-level decision-makers, landing pages for enterprise buyers, ad copy for a defined ICP. If you know who you are writing to and you want a scoring layer that tells you whether the copy fits that audience's psychology, COS is built for that.

COS is not a grammar checker, an SEO tool, or a general-purpose writing assistant. It does not optimize for search rankings or sentence clarity. If those are your primary needs, Grammarly handles surface correctness and tools like Surfer handle SEO. COS operates at a different layer: psychological fit between copy and buyer.
